Award Winning Native American Fiddlist, Arvel Bird with One Nation Band, Coming to Joslyn Art Museum for Lewis & Clark Celebration September 9

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 28, 2006 -- Popular Native American fiddlist, Arvel Bird (Southern Paiute/Me’tis) and his band, One Nation, will be performing at the Joslyn Art Museum Witherspoon Hall on September 9th in celebration of Lewis & Clark: The Journey Home. Admission is free for all three concerts. Performance times are 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The Joslyn Art Museum is located at 2200 Dodge Street in Omaha, NE.

Bird, a classically trained violinist, recently won the coveted Native American Music Award’s Best Instrumental for his Arvel Bird LIVE! CD. His latest solo recording, Animal Totems 2, is a finalist in the Contemporary Instrumental category at the Indian Summer Music Awards to be decided the same weekend as the Lewis & Clark celebration.

He performs and records in a number of diverse genres including blues, jazz, bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Western swing, American roots, and contemporary Native music which gives him a continually fresh, unique sound making him one of the most in-demand Native recording artists on tour. And how does he plan to continue doing that?

“With such a talented group of musicians, it’s easy to come up with new ideas. Vlasis’s guitar work is about as sweet as it gets. Chris and I have a musical chemistry through two albums and Eagle was one of the most under-utilized percussionists who fit perfectly with the direction in which I wanted to move. So now we are just seeing how far we can expand our musical reaches, individually and together,” Bird explains.

The One Nation Band includes the traditional Native American percussionist, John LoneEagle (Cherokee/Apache) and popular Omaha guitarist, Vlasis (Greek). Together they join keyboardist / vocalist Chris James (Irish), Bird’s co-writer on Animal Totems and Animal Totems 2. Arvel Bird and One Nation are currently working on their debut CD scheduled for release on the Singing Wolf Records label late September.
